Yes, we are excited that spring is finally here! However, let me caution you that the ground temperature as of today is still only 49 degrees. This means that it is still too cold to apply pre-emergent, put grass seed in bare spots, or plant any flowers except panies. It is a great time though for clean up of lawns and flower beds. This is the best time to pick up the leaves, sticks, and remove thatch from the lawn. Removing all the debris from your lawn, will make a healthier lawn this summer.
If you are really wanting to work in your yard now, I would suggest mulching your beds. Mulching your perinnels will help control weeds, hold moisture, and make your beds more attractive.

We have a big favor to ask of you. The Better Business Bureau has a website in which customers can submit a "Customer Review" of local businesses. As a BBB member since 2004, we would be thrilled if you would take a few minutes to give us a positive review.
The process is easy. Go to www.bbbinc.org and search Superior Green Lawns. Click on our company and a page will open. On the right side under the column that says Customer Reviews, there is a link to "Submit Customer Review." After you complete the steps and confirm your email with the BBB, they will publish your comments.
Thank you for taking time to write a positive comment!
After this very long winter, spring seems to have finally arrived. Rain would be great, but at least it isn't so cold. One thing you can do right now to help your lawn and trees and shrubs, is water, water, water. Since our snowfall this past winter was so low, all our lawns and outdoor plants need moisture. If you have a sprinkler system, I would NOT recommend turning it on just yet. There is still a possibility of freezing and that could damage your sprinkler system and leave you with expensive repair bills. However, dragging the hose to water trees and shrubs would benefit them greatly. The weather predictions are bleak right now in predicting rain, so you can keep your trees and plants stress-free by watering.
We have been in yards cleaning out flower beds and picking up leaves from last fall. It is great to get back outside and get to work. If you need any help with your lawn work, please give us a call. We would love to make your spring stress-free.
Today our crew was working on Dodge Street between 90th and the Westroads. The crew was shocked by just how fast drivers were going past them. It seems everyone is always so busy, but we would like to ask everyone to just slow down a bit. With summer rapidly approaching, watch out for lawn crews mowing along the side of the road. Give them an extra lane or two. There are so many lawn companies and landscapers all working to make a living. Please slow down when you see workers mowing or spreading mulch along the side of the road. Give 'em a brake.
After such a snowy, cold winter, it is tempting to get out and hurry spring along. However, the best thing to do with your lawn this time of year is nothing. It is best to leave the shrubs, trees, roses, and turf grass alone this time of year to prevent damage from the extreme cold and snow.
We too are looking forward to a blossoming spring in a just a few short weeks. If you have any questions about anything related to your lawn, please give us a call.
